About the internship

I will assist with administrative, legal, social, and operational services for BakerRipley's Immigration and Citizenship program.

The impact on my career path

The opportunity to gain more practical experience in understanding how to approach developing as well as using and applying the law to better serve a community is my ultimate goal. I am also very serious about gaining fluency in Spanish. Having volunteered in BakerRipley's Spanish-speaking communities, I hope to become a better communicator in a language outside of English.

What I hope to learn

This internship will give me the opportunity to get an idea of what life could be like as an attorney as well as what type of law I may want to practice. Immigration law is very pertinent in today's political climate and the opportunity to explore it as a rising sophomore will be an incredible opportunity.

How it relates to my academics/interests

I hope to gain hands-on experience working for a nonprofit organization. The opportunity to work with people with the same goal of improving the lives of others is paramount to me. I also plan to gain experience with immigration law and how to use it as a tool to help others improve their quality of life.
