Justin provides departmental technology and computing support. 

I enjoy: Learning something new every day. Whether it be something abstract and philosophical or practical and technical, I’m a voracious and constant learner.

My favorite part of my job is: Seeing how things I work on have a direct and positive impact on people’s workflow. Whether that be resolving an issue or helping introduce a technology, skill or workflow that is beneficial.

If I weren’t doing this job, I’d be: Likely still be doing a similar IT role at another institution or company. That’s the pragmatic answer. The more interesting answer comes in if I weren’t doing a job in an IT field. In that case, I would probably be trying to break into a more purely scientific role someplace. Trade in the technological troubleshooting for practical applications of mathematics.

I’m passionate about: Personal digital privacy, digital security and accessibility. I believe that people should have a reasonable expectation to privacy. Companies and persons handling your information and digital life should do so in a manner that is as secure as possible and while maintaining your privacy as much as possible. Digital technology should be an equalizer and should be accessible and inclusive to all possible persons, regardless of their ability.

The best single day on the calendar is: Always pretzel day.
