What's the most underrated/overlooked resource or service offered by the Center for Career Development?
Drop-in advising sessions! Drop-in sessions are perfect for when you have a quick question about anything career-related: resumes, cover letters, finding internships, networking, LinkedIn, etc. No appointments are necessary, so drop-in sessions are an amazing resource if you have a busy schedule and do not have the time for a full appointment, or need the flexibility of being able to drop-in.
What advice would you give to someone considering your major/industry/area of expertise?
Don't restrict yourself to experiences that directly relate to your concentration/intended career path. Join clubs, attend workshops, and listen to lectures on campus because they seem (even slightly!) interesting, and you'll have more opportunities to learn what you like and dislike. When you focus on exploring your interests, rather than limiting yourself to a single plan, the career development process doesn't seem as scary! There are many internships/jobs that you could find fulfilling, so keep an open mind.
In my free time, I like to...
Craft! I learned to sew in elementary school and I love to make matching outfits for my dog and myself. Right now, I'm also pretty into crocheting and collage-making.
One thing I'm looking forward to this semester is...
Starting to volunteer with Penn Medicine! During high school, I worked as a housekeeper in a hospital, and I'm excited to return to serving patients and their families.
