What advice would you give to someone considering your major/industry/area of expertise?
Choosing my major is the best decision I've made at Princeton. Having learned Spanish in the Navy, I was naturally drawn to taking Spanish classes. Though I did not originally plan on majoring in Spanish and Portuguese, the support and strong sense of community in the department ultimately led me to the major. I love that my professors are approachable and enthusiastic about helping us through our academic journey, whether it's improving our language abilities or guiding us to resources for our independent research. This past fall, I took my junior seminar class with 8 other concentrators. I looked forward to our class every week!
If someone is considering my major, I would highly advice them to go for it. Not only can we choose which language/s we want to focus on, but we can also take classes from other departments and have them count towards our major. I haven't looked through other majors, but I feel this is unique to our department.
I have a lot of positive comments about my department, and I'd be happy to speak with anyone who has any questions about it and/or considering it.
In my free time, I like to...
Listen to music, play music and cook!
One thing I'm looking forward to this semester is...
Learning French!
