Many employers see this as an opportunity to learn about you and your skills, but also as a way to share information about their organization. In some cases, the employers may be there to recruit for open roles, while others may be looking to network with interested students.

Many times, coffee chats are staffed by alumni representatives, which creates an informal environment where you can explore industries and company culture. Coffee chats may take place in 1:1 or small group settings that last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. This is a great way to make a good first impression with an organization, so it is recommended that you plan some questions in advance and bring a copy of your resume.
