Event Description

The U.S. is now running the largest fiscal deficits as a share of GDP outside of recessions since World War II. How and why is this borrowing being financed, and how much more room to run does this dynamic have? Understanding the limits of expansionary fiscal policies will be critical for investors, as reaching those limits will drive key turning points in economies and markets.

Bridgewater we will be hosting small group discussions moderated by their investors on the theme of the investment implications of large government deficits. These discussions will follow Monday’s presentation by Head of Cross-Asset Strategies Alex Schiller ‘09. RSVP for Monday's talk. attendance at this talk is recommended but not required for the small group discussions.

They will have the same format that actual investment perception conversations have at Bridgewater. Prior to the discussions, we will circulate samples of Bridgewater research on the topic. The discussion will then aim to draw out key areas of disagreement among participants, and work through them to build a richer understanding of the topic. More information about these discussions is available at this application link. Spots are limited — apply soon.

This event is tailored for first-year and second-year students.

Please submit the form by November 8. Bridgewater will confirm attendees by end of Monday, November 11 and we will share location details with confirmed attendees.
