Erik Fatemi ‘87 is a principal at Cornerstone Government Affairs, a bipartisan lobbying firm based in Washington, D.C., where he advises clients how to achieve their federal policy goals in medical research, public health, education and immigration. He joined Cornerstone in 2013 after serving 12 years on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education under Chairman Tom Harkin (D-IA). From 2010 to 2013, Erik served as the subcommittee’s staff director, and in that capacity acted as the Senate’s lead representative during negotiations with the House of Representatives and White House over the annual Labor-HHS-Education spending measure. Prior to Capitol Hill, Erik worked for a dozen years as a reporter, editor and columnist, completing his journalism career at Education Week, where he directed the publication’s coverage of federal education policy and education technology. Erik graduated from Princeton University in 1987 with an A.B. degree in English.
